Sustainable bus shelter
Streetscape design
Team project
"Savanne" is an award-winning, bio-based, cirucular and modular public bus shelter. Designed by 7 industrial design students, to enhance the streetscape and contribute to improved biodiversity and air quality.
In the first semester of the second year of my Industrial Product Design program, along with six other IPO students, we were tasked by the company SWECO to design the most sustainable bus shelter in the Netherlands.

The assignment was to design a shelter that is sustainable, bio-based, circular, and modular, with minimal environmental impact. This project is a collaboration between SWECO, OFN, Textline, and HAN.

The shelter is designed to minimize waste during dismantling and to have a low CO2 footprint during production. The poles and frame of the shelter are made from a wood fiber bio-composite. The roof of the shelter is constructed from Bio-Polypropylene with a layer of sedum on top. The concept behind the sedum is to ensure that the location of the bus stop does not replace natural greenery; hence, it is placed on the roof. Sedum, a type of succulent, is beneficial for insects and contributes to a greener urban landscape when all shelters have a sedum roof. More plants mean more oxygen and less CO2.
The very first model of the shelter is installed by OFN and SWECO in October 2020 in De Bilt, Utrecht, near the SWECO headquarters. With this project, my project group and I also participated in the Cleantech Battle 2020. I am proud to say that we secured the first place. The video below briefly explains the project and why it represents the future of shelters.

Freelance assignment
“Ducati Display” is a product design assignment in collaboration with Teun Fleskens Design. Achieving maximal display with minimal construction.
The project’s primary goal was to develop a steel structure capable of showcasing six Ducati motorcycles. It involved the creation of a two-story display platform, with each level accommodating three motorcycles.

The central focus of the design is the incorporation of a hoisting system, seamlessly integrated into the structure for effortless maneuverability of the motorcycles. Additionally, the entire structure will be tailored to meet the specific requirements of production, ensuring efficiency and precision throughout the manufacturing process.

In essence, the project aimed to create a visually stunning and functional showcase that captures the essence of Ducati’s craftsmanship and engineering prowess.
